Nüart Gallery presents “Hidden Material,” a solo exhibition by Randall Reid
In Hidden Material, found and historical materials—some dating back to the 1800s—are preserved and forever changed. Reid, a Texas-based artist, recontextualizes antique tools, toys, furniture and panels by abbreviating, rearranging, and then framing them in fresh new compositions. The resulting vignettes are both rooted in and removed from time with a nearly recognizable specificity that often leaves the viewer searching for their memory for the context of the components.
