Nüart Gallery presents “Traces," an exhibition featuring new work by Shar Coulson.
Traces presents a magnetic interplay between emotional vulnerability and artistic fortitude as Shar Coulson continues to cultivate her gestural interpretation of the natural world. Inhabiting the space between wind and water & flora and fauna, primal traces branch and hold undulating forms recognizable as both familiar shapes and layers of tactile color relinquished to abstraction. The real and ideal merge in these verdant compositions, where channels of dense tones from the outside world coarse over and around intersecting elements, webbed drips, and diffused pigmentation. An environment simultaneously entwines and separates in the work, where transparency of the organic world superimposes the mystery of our inner sensitivities.
In these rhythmic compositions Coulson enters a fluid state of creation, where emerging from the blank canvas are beautifully harnessed juxtapositions such as “Tender Frenzy,” “Tranquil Friction,” and “Rhythmic Resilience.” The visible intricacies in these spirited, far-reaching paintings reward wandering through and discovering a multitude of complementary perspectives.
