Silent Elevations | Randall Reid

In his latest series, Randall Reid explores the intricate patterns and textures of both natural and human-made landscapes. Using found materials such as salvaged steel and aged wood, Reid creates compositions that reflect the layered history and compartmentalized nature of these terrains. His work bridges the past and present, transforming reclaimed objects into contemporary art pieces that resonate with historical significance.

Reid’s pieces are known for their balance and harmony, blending formal structure with an organic feel. Each material he uses, from 18th-century wood to mid-20th-century metal, carries its own story, which Reid carefully recontextualizes in his art. His works invite viewers to contemplate the passage of time and the evolution of materials.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1956, Randall Reid has participated in over 300 exhibitions and is represented in numerous collections, including The American Embassy in Kuwait, The Arkansas Art Center, and The Austin Museum of Art. He resides in San Marcos, Texas, where he has been a Professor of Art and Design at Texas State University for over thirty years.

Silent Elevations | Emilio Lobato

Emilio Lobato’s work in “Silent Elevations” is characterized by its dynamic yet quiet energy. Drawing from his personal archive, Lobato’s pieces reflect a steady, non-insistent movement that conveys a deep sense of rhythm and flow. His use of abstraction and collage allows him to distill his subjects to their essence, creating a powerful visual language that speaks to themes of isolation, tradition, and cultural identity.

Lobato, born in 1959 in San Pablo, Colorado, draws significant inspiration from his heritage and the landscapes of his upbringing. His compositions are marked by their rich textures and thoughtful arrangements, inviting viewers to engage with the underlying stories and emotions.

In 2023, Emilio Lobato was the subject of a comprehensive 40-year survey at the Arvada Center, a prominent Denver-area art center. This exhibition presented over 75 pieces, showcasing almost every year and phase of his creative output, highlighting the depth and breadth of his artistic journey.

Lobato’s career highlights include a mid-career retrospective at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center in 2011. His works are held in numerous collections, reflecting their widespread appeal and the depth of his artistic vision. Lobato has been based in Denver since 1985, where he continues to create and exhibit his work.
