Bedding Plane is a solo exhibition with new work by artist Anne Kaferle. In this featured exhibition, Kaferle continues her painterly exploration of an erosional desert landscape by way of both intimate plein air and larger-scale works. The exhibition takes its name from a geological term describing a boundary surface between two sedimentary rock layers, which differ in texture or color. For Kaferle, these natural divisions mirror the profound shifts in environmental conditions over time, encapsulating moments of serene beauty and intense transformation.
In her work, Kaferle employs mineral pigments that flow and settle under gravity’s influence, emerging as color-field paintings that capture the essence and fluidity of the natural world.
