Michael Bergt: re-visions

12 - 28 July 2013

Michael Bergt is an internationally recognized figurative artist known for his mastery of a variety of media, from his renowned egg tempera paintings and pencil drawings to bronze sculpture.  Using diverse sources of visual cultures from the East to the West, Bergt’s work unites the two major themes of figurative art, the sensual and the spiritual into works of delicate mastery.

In this solo exhibition, Michael Bergt works from live models to create life-size and monumental figures.  Using charcoal, color pencil, acrylic and gouache the work is immediate and fresh, and yet the impact is psychologically arresting to the viewer. In Michael Bergt’s work, our collective human story is palpable in the vulnerability of each of his subjects.

Michael Bergt has shown his work nationally and internationally for over thirty years in numerous solo and group museum exhibitions including the Arnot Museum, the Evansville Museum of Arts and Science and the Lower Belvedere Palace in Vienna.
