Erin Cone combines figuration with minimalism and abstraction to create works that are at once arresting and instantly recognizable. Her images use the visual language of design to convey the emotional sensitivity that she feels is at the heart of figurative painting. Cone’s new exhibition, "Desiderata," deals with what is yearned for, unrequited and unfulfilled. Her paintings evoke the fleeting moments of longing whose origin and outcome are equally unknown. Distilling human gestures into formal composition. Cone blends structure and figurative elements to subtly express the universal condition of desires unmet.
Erin Cone has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions nationally and internationally. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, Architectural Digest and on the cover of American Art Collector and Southwest Art magazine, among others. Her artwork is in both private and public collections throughout the United States and Europe.
